Juhas accuses Negri of breach of contract

PETALING JAYA: Marian Juhas (pic) of Slovakia has taken his former team Negri Sembilan to task for not paying his dues.

The former Negri skipper claimed that he had a contract with the Negri FA (NSFA) until Oct 31 this year although the FA of Malaysia (FAM) had imposed a ban on foreign players this season.

“I have tried to negotiate my contract with the NSFA but we failed to come to an agreement,” Juhas said in a telephone conversation from Slovakia yesterday.

Juhas claimed that he signed a three-year contract with Negri in 2007 but the FAM imposed a ban on import players at the end of the 2008 season.

“NSFA stopped paying my salary without any reason and have breached the terms of my contract. I informed the Players Status Committee (PSC) about my problem and they instructed the NSFA to pay my 11 months of salary amounting to more than RM200,000 by Aug 22 this year,” said Juhas.

The PSC faxed their decision to Juhas on July 23 but the player claimed that he has yet to receive any payment from the NSFA.

Juhas, who follows Malaysian football closely, said he was surprised to read on the Internet that the FAM had expelled six teams for failing to meet the Oct 31 deadline for not settling outstanding debts owed to players.

Juhas wants the FAM to explain why Negri have been given the nod to play in next year’s competition when they have yet to settle his payment.

“It is unfair of FAM to bar teams who have not settled their debts to play next year when Negri, who have not settled my debts, have been given Negri the nod. I have forwarded my case to the world governing body (FIFA) and I hope justice will prevail,” said Juhas.

Six teams, including Malaysia Cup finalists Kelantan, faced expulsion from competitions next season for failing to meet the Oct 31 deadline.

However, Kelantan have sorted out their financial mess and have been reinstated into the fray next season.

The other teams out are Penang and Perak from the Super League and Shahzan Muda, Malacca and Pahang from the Premier League.
