SIC to use Volkswagens at Malaysian GP

PETALING JAYA: Volkswagen cars will be gracing the circuit during the Petronas Malaysian F1 Grand Prix next week.

VW Cars Sdn Bhd, the marque’s distributor in Malaysia, have formed a smart partnership with Sepang International Circuit (SIC) in conjunction with the GP from April 3-5.

A total of 42 cars of various models will be provided during the race week.

Present to officiate the deal at the SIC yesterday was their chairman, Datuk Mokhzani Mahathir, and the chief executive officer, Razlan Razali. Representing VW Cars were chairman Datuk Ilyas Mohamed and director of sales Helmi Ilyas.

“The SIC are proud and grateful to be working with VW Cars Sdn Bhd ahead of the race weekend. We hope this is the beginning of many good things to come,” said Razlan.

The sponsorship will see eight Touregs, eight Passats, two R32s, 2 Jettas, a Beetle, a Cross Polo and 20 Golf GTIs.

The deal from March 27 until April 7 will see the cars used for various purposes, including on track and pre-race preparation.

Besides being the SIC official track wagons for the races, the cars will also be used to shuttle guests to the corporate suites.
