Bojan quits UPB-MyTeam
PETALING JAYA: Croatian Bojan Hodak has quit as chief coach of UPB-MyTeam FC.
He did not give any reasons for his decision to leave the Super League side after they fell to a humiliating 0-5 defeat by Terengganu last Saturday.
“I have decided to leave and I will meet the club president, Khairy Jamaluddin, when he returns from overseas,” said Bojan yesterday.
It is learnt that Bojan is unhappy with the current state of affairs in the club, who have struggled to pay the players’ salaries. The club were also rumoured to want to close down after the Super League next month.
Team manager Mohd Yakub Hussaini confirmed Bojan’s resignation and said that Khan Hung Meng would now be the caretaker coach.
“Bojan’s contract is up next month. He wanted out and we have agreed to release him,” said Yakub.
Bojan has been with the team since it was formed in 2006. He was made chief coach when the team played in the Premier League the following year before they moved to the top flight last year.
But the team have struggled this season and they are in 11th spot on 23 points from seven wins, two draws and 10 defeats.
