Ex-Celtic striker Hartson undergoes brain op
LONDON: Former Celtic striker John Hartson has undergone emergency surgery to relieve pressure on his brain.
The Morriston Hospital in Swansea, Wales, announced the surgery yesterday.
The 34-year-old Hartson was diagnosed with testicular cancer, and it has spread to his brain. Hartson was given the news by doctors on Sunday after going to the hospital because of severe headaches.
Before five seasons at Celtic from 2001, Hartson played for Luton, Arsenal, West Ham, Wimbledon and Coventry.
He retired last year after being released by West Bromwich Albion and has been working as a TV commentator. — AP
