Fluminense reappoint Renato as coach
RIO DE JANEIRO: Fluminense on Monday reappointed coach Renato Portaluppi, who led them to last year’s Libertadores Cup final but was sacked weeks later when they went bottom of the Brazilian championship.
“A year after taking Fluminense to the final of the Copa Libertadores de America, Renato Gaucho is back in charge of the tricolor team,” the club said on their website (www.fluminense.com.br) using his nickname.
Former Fluminense, Flamengo, AS Roma and Brazil forward Renato is replacing ex-Brazil coach Carlos Alberto Parreira, who was sacked a week ago after five successive defeats left the team in the relegation zone. — Reuters
