Sport sack former Brazil coach Emerson
SAO PAULO: Former Brazil coach Emerson Leao has been fired as coach of Sport after less than two months in charge.
The announcement was made on Monday, a day after Sport drew 3-3 with Nautico to extend their winless streak to four matches and leave the club in 17th place.
After that match, Leao criticised a club director and Sport president Silvio Guimaraes said that contributed to his dismissal.
Leao, a former Brazil goalkeeper who coached the national team in 2002, led Sport to three victories, two draws and five losses.
It was Leao’s third stint at Sport, who last year won the Brazilian Cup and this year reached the Copa Libertadores round of 16.
