Atletico Mineiro signs WCup veteran Ricardinho
SAO PAULO (AP) - Atletico Mineiro has signed World Cup veteran Ricardinho until the end of 2011.
The 33-year-old midfielder was acquired from Qatar's Al Rayyan on Thursday and is expected to be officially introduced on Tuesday.
Financial details were not released. Ricardinho represented Brazil in the 2002 and 2006 World Cups.
He previously played for Brazilian clubs Santos and Corinthians, which he helped win the 1998 and 1999 Brazilian leagues, the 2000 Club World Cup and the 2002 Brazilian Cup. He also won the 2004 Brazilian league with Santos.
Ricardinho was playing with Turkey's Besiktas before moving to Al Rayyan. He played for Middlesbrough in 2004.
Atletico is fifth in the Brazilian league, seven points behind leader Palmeiras.
