Roy Jones Jr. to fight Danny Green in Australia
SYDNEY (AP) - Eight-time world champion Roy Jones Jr. will fight Australia's Danny Green in Sydney on Dec. 2 in what will be the American veteran's first professional fight ever on foreign soil.
The IBO world cruiserweight title will be on the line, with 40-year-old Jones trying to add that belt to a career haul that includes titles in divisions ranging from middleweight to heavyweight. His career record is 54 wins, include 40 by knockout, and five losses since 1989.
Green won the IBO cruiserweight title in Biloxi, Mississippi last month with a victory over Argentina's Julio Cesar Dominguez on the undercard to Jones' NABO light heavyweight championship win over Jeff Lacy.
Nathan Rees, premier of New South Wales state, announced details of the Dec. 2 fight on Thursday.
