F1: Brawns quickest in first Singapore practice
SINGAPORE (AP): The Brawn GP pair of Rubens Barrichello and Jenson Button have set the quickest times in opening practice for the Singapore Formula One Grand Prix.
Barrichello, who trails Button by 14 points in the drivers' championship, set a best time of 1 minute, 50.179 seconds around the Marina Bay circuit on Friday, almost two tenths of a second ahead of Button.
Red Bull's Mark Webber was third best, and his teammate Sebastian Vettel fifth, separated by last year's race winner Fernando Alonso of Renault.
The session was temporarily stopped when Renault's Romain Grosjean crashed. In an extraordinary coincidence, the crash was in exactly the same place as Renault's infamous deliberate crash in the 2008 race.
