JHA request MHC to reconsider venue for semis
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia Hockey League (MHC) technical committee has been asked to reconsider the venue for the Division One semi-final between Thunderbolt and Johor HA.
Both legs of the match are slated for the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Thursday and Sunday.
But the Johor HA have questioned the rationale of playing the match in KL when both teams are from Johor.
Johor HA (JHA) executive secretary Hashim Mohamed Yusof said the teams would prefer to play the match at the Taman Daya Hockey Stadium in Johor Baru instead of travelling to KL.
“The cost factor is our main consideration. The teams will have stay at least a week in KL for the two legs and the winner a few days more for the final.
“It would help if the MHC review their decision,” said Hashim, who is also the Johor HA assistant manager.
The Johor HA are also unhappy that there has been no television coverage of the Division One matches.
“We have no idea why the Division One hasn’t been highlighted on TV. We hope the MHC will look into this for the semi-final stage,” Hashim added.
