Giger holds on to yellow jersey but Lindgren tops Stage Four
LANGKAWI: Fabian Giger of Rabobank-Giant Offroad Team maintained his grip on the yellow jersey as the overall leader at the end of Stage Four of the Langkawi International Mountain Biking Challenge (LIMBC) at the Oriental Village here yesterday.
However, team-mate Emil Lindgren of Sweden stole the limelight when he clocked 1’33:35.15 to win the 27km men’s Open Stage Four. Giger was second in 1’34:04.80 to maintain the yellow jersey and brighten his chances of emerging overall champion. Austrian Karl Markt of Feltz-O-Bionic was third in 1’35:02.30.
In the women Open category, Swiss Nathalie Schneitter of the Colnago Sudtirol team romped home in 1’32:13.65. Schneitter overcame Italian Eva Lechner, the Stage Three champion, in the 22.5km race .
American Lea Davison, of Team Specialized, clocked 1’33:26.32 to come in third and hold on to the pink jersey as the current overall leader.
Malaysia’s Masziyaton Mohd Radzi of Kedah SBS Giant Team finished ninth in 1’53:31.28.
