PM gets wish to play with golf legend
Najib rocks: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak getting a high-five from Tiger Woods after birdieing tje 7th hole CIMB Classic at the Mines Resort and Golf Club Wednesday. Woods only parred the hole.- S.S.Kanesan/The Star Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak got his wish to play with Tiger Woods yesterday when the two of them “battled” it out in the pro-am ahead of the CIMB Classic at the Mines Resort and Golf Club.
Najib had previously expressed a desire to play a round of golf with the 14-time Major winner, who last set foot here 13 years ago when Malaysia hosted the World Cup.
Former Deputy Prime Minister Tun Musa Hitam and Najib’s brother Datuk Nizam Razak also tagged along as the PM played all 18 holes.
About 200 golf enthusiasts followed the duo around, watching from afar as security was tight.
Najib also took time to meet some of the professionals, including local aces Shaaban Hussin and Danny Chia.
Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek and CIMB Group chief executive Datuk Seri Nazir Razak also played in the pro-am.
