Azlan aiming for grand finish at Suzuka race
PETALING JAYA: MUSASHi Boon Siew Honda Racing’s Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman has pleasant memories of Suzuka.
Azlan and Emir Firdaus Hasan won the Suzuka four-hour Endurance Road Race at the track in Japan last year.
And Azlan is hoping for another sensational result in Suzuka when he competes in the final round of the All-Japan Road Race Championship this weekend.
This will be Azlan’s second foray into the prestigious Japanese championship.
In August, he finished sixth in the sixth leg of the championship in Sugo.
“We experienced brake failure during the Sugo race and I had to settle for sixth position. I hope to do better this time since I’m more familiar with the Suzuka Circuit,” he said.
Azlan, who has recovered from his dramatic high-side in Taiwan two weeks ago, is optimistic of improving his results in the SuperSports 600cc class as well.
This year, Azlan also participated in the Suzuka eight-hour Endurance Road Race Championship with Makoto Tamada and Chosun Kameya.
