Poulter aims to sign off with first 'W'
DONGGUAN, China: England's Ian Poulter Wednesday said he hoped to round off his season in style with his first win of the year, following his heroics at the Ryder Cup.
The flamboyant Englishman admitted he was still "dining out" on his inspirational role in Europe's comeback win at Medinah, but said he now wanted to seal his season with a win.
"I'm fairly motivated to put a 'W' (win) on the board before the end of the year," Poulter, who finished fourth at last week's BMW Masters in Shanghai, said in Dongguan, southern China.
"My record in the Ryder Cup is pretty good, so I'm going to be dining out on that one for quite a while, as I still am right now," he added. "But on a personal level I need to go out there and win a golf tournament.
"I feel that I've certainly played well enough this year, so I'm going to put some pressure on myself over the last five tournaments to make sure I get myself a victory."
In an eclectic press conference, Poulter also answered questions from Ryder Cup team-mate Justin Rose ("How can I beat you this week?), and was asked by a Chinese journalist how long it took him to get dressed.
"Well, this morning I took about six minutes. Quick shower, ruffled the hair up and out the door," he said, before being asked who was the most muscular, handsome and fashionable of his Ryder Cup team-mates.
"Well, muscular is going to have to be Mr. (Lee) Westwood. He's a big boy," Poulter said, before declaring Martin Kaymer as the most handsome.
"And fashionable? No, none of them can dress," he added. -AFP
