SCK Honda’s Affendi fastest in timed practice
PETALING JAYA: Harian Metro SCK Honda Racing rider Mohd Affendi Rosli (pic) put on a strong show to be the fastest in the CP130 timed practice for Round 8 of the Petronas AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championships in Malacca yesterday.
Affendi stopped the clock in 49.075, ahead of title contenders Ahmad Fazrul Sham (49.268) and Ahmad Fuad Baharudin (49.430) of Faito Motobert Racing.
Championship leader and Affendi’s team-mate, Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman, was fifth fastest in 49.468 behind defending champion and team-mate Norizman Ismail (49.452).
“The past seven rounds have been tough for me. There were many opportunities for me to finish on the podium but luck was never on my side,” said the 27-year-old Affendi, who finished third in Malacca last year.
“Coming in fastest for the timed practice in Malacca is a good indication that things are finally changing for the better.”
Sasitharen Sukumaran also put on an impressive pace to dominate the CP115 timed practice, thanks to an effective suspension.
The M-Seki Liberty Honda Racing rider, who opted for a softer feel to his Honda, clocked 50.582 yesterday.
Ahmad Afif Amran (CKJ Yamaha Racing) was second fastest in 50.779 while Mohd Emir Firdaus Hasan, also of M-Seki, was third quickest in 50.779.
