ARRC is first international event at new Taiwan circuit
PETALING JAYA: The Petronas Asia Road Racing Championships (ARRC) will reach another milestone in its rich 17-year history when it becomes the first international event to be hosted at the new Penbay International Circuit in Taiwan this weekend.
The 3.526km track has 16 corners and will have the most technical layout on the ARRC race calendar this season.
“Penbay will surely distinguish the men from the boys,” said Two Wheels Motor Racing Sdn Bhd (TWMR) promotions director Ron Hogg.
“This circuit will be a test of engineering precision and creativity as well as skill and stamina.
“For riders who are used to the sweeping modern F1 type of circuits, the Penbay round will certainly be one of the most difficult hurdles they’ll need to overcome in their title chase.”
The Malaysian riders who will be competing in the SuperSports 600cc category are Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman, Mohd Zamri Baba, Mohd Ramdan Mohd Rosli, Mohd Zaqhwan Zaidi and Mohd Emir Firdaus Hasan.
Mohd Affendi Rosli, who won the Petronas AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championships race in Malacca last week, will participate in the Undebone 115cc class alongside Norizman Ismail, Ahmad Afif Amran, Che Ku Amriq, Mohd Adib Rosley, Mohd Azhar Abdul Jalil, Mohd Amirul Ariff Musa and Wan Hadri Wan Mukhtar.
Mohd Fitri Ashraf Razali and Sasitharen Sukumaran, on the other hand, will take up the Asia Dream Cup challenge onboard their Honda CBR250RR.
