Kuhara: I will go all out to win the MSS title
PETALING JAYA: Three-time Superbike champion Yasuhiro Kuhara is not giving up the chase for the overall title as the Malaysian Super Series (MSS) heads for the final round at the Sepang International Circuit tomorrow.
The Japanese rider is second in the standings with 130 points after four rounds – 15 behind championship leader Mohd Syahnas Shahidan (145). Luca Cassoni of Italy is third with 123 points.
“Winning the title is still possible and you can be sure that I’ll go all out this time,” said Kuhara.
Syahnas, the MSS Supersports champion in 2008, extended his lead over Kuhara with a double victory in Round Four, which was held in conjunction with the Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix on Oct 21.
Syahnas, meanwhile, said it is important to have a comfortable advantage over Kuhara, whom he described as “a very good rider”.
“I’m happy to have the advantage ... but I still need to be cautious this weekend. There are two more races to go and I’ll do my very best,” he said.
