ABL fine Warriors and Cobras for walkout
PETALING JAYA: The Asean Basketball League (ABL) have fined both the Indonesia Warriors and Bangkok Cobras an undisclosed amount following the Cobras’ walkout during their match last Saturday.
ABL officials concluded that the Warriors, as the home team, should be fined for failing to control the home crowd and not providing a proper home venue with facilities for the match.
The Cobras were also slapped with a fine for failing to complete the game. The Cobras walked out in the fourth quarter, with 1:39 left on the clock and with the Warriors leading 74-67.
The Warriors were awarded the match 74-67.
If that is not bad enough, Cobras head coach Joe “Jellybean” Bryant was also slapped with a one-match ban and fine for instigating the walkout and for repeatedly walking onto the playing court.
The ABL have also fined Cobras’ Jai Reyes for making public remarks and allegations regarding ABL game officials on his Twitter account.
Both teams have 24 hours to appeal, failing which the fine or suspension will take effect.
