Zulfahmi bracing for a wet Silverstone track
PETALING JAYA: The Silverstone circuit has never been kind to Malaysian Moto3 rider Mohd Zulfahmi Khairuddin and he is determined to throw the monkey off his back today.
In his debut in 2010, he failed to finish the 125cc race as he struggled to cope with his machine and the frantic pace of the competition.
A year later, under the ever-changing English weather that caused the race to be run in torrential rain, Zulfahmi managed to finish in 18th spot.
“All I remembered about the race was how wet I was. The water even seeped into my helmet and I almost couldn’t see anything throughout the race,” said Zulfahmi.
But with a more competi- tive factory bike supported by KTM this year and the guidance of championship winning team Ajo Motorsports, the AirAsia- SIC-Ajo rider has vowed to get a good result in the race today.
After five rounds of the championships, Zulfahmi has amassed 37 points to sit seventh in the standings – an impressive seven points more than his last year’s total where he finished 30th overall.
“The weather forecast says there’s a high chance of rain throughout the weekend. It also rained during the free practice session on Friday.
“Rain or no rain, it will be the same for everybody and I think I can manage the situation better now,” said Zulfahmi.
