Kiyonari roars to a double in Sentul
PETALING JAYA: Ryuichi Kiyonari chalked up a double in the Super-Sports 600cc class in Round Two of the Petronas Asia Road Racing Cham-pionships at the Sentul International Circuit in Indonesia yesterday.
The Musashi Boon Siew Honda rider had a fairly smooth outing in Race 1, completing it in 24:17.001 while his Malaysian team-mate Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman took second place in 24:17.515.
Defending champion Katsuaki Fujiwara (Manual Tech BEET Kawasaki Racing) had to settle for third in 24:19.476.
Kiyonari took advantage of the situation when Fujiwara was seen struggling with his front end to win Race 2. Fujiwara was second while Mohd Zamri Baba (Petronas Hong Leong Yamaha) took third spot.
“I’m really very happy to win in Indonesia. The race was very hard and I’m not so familiar with this circuit,” said Kiyonari, whose win propelled him to the top of the standings over Fujiwara.
Kiyonari holds a slim lead with 90 points. Fujiwara is second (86) and Zamri third (55).
Indonesian rider Hadi Wijaya (Yamaha Yamalube KYT R9 Tunggal Jaya) bagged a double to stretch his lead in the Underbone 115cc class with 86 points. Norizman Ismail (Harian Metro Y-TEQ SCK Honda) is second (62) and Rey Ratukore (Nissin R9 YT Federal Oil BRT) third (60).
