Extra incentives for Terengganu Sukma team
KUALA TERENGGANU: Additional incentives await the Terengganu Sukma contingent that emerged overall champion at the 15th Pahang Sukma that ended on Monday.
Terengganu Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said said the state government would announce a special incentive for the Sukma contingent that clinched the overall title for the fourth consecutive time.
“They deserve the incentives after putting on a brilliant performance in Pahang. An announcement will be made soon.
“It will be in addition to what we have announced before,” he said after chairing an exco meeting at Wisma Darul Iman here today.
Terengganu had earlier announced that gold medal winners will receive RM5,000, silver medal (RM3,000) and bronze medal (RM2,000).
Terengganu emerged overall champion with 62 gold, 24 silver and 31 bronze medals.
Meanwhile, the Terengganu state government also announced an RM10,000 special incentive for weightlifter Abdul Mubin Rahim, 21, winner of the overall Best Athlete crown at the Pahang Sukma.
Abdul Mubin who competed in the 77kg category clinched the gold medal with a lift of 171kg en route to setting a new national record in the Clean & Jerk after erasing Mohd Hidayat Hamidon’s national record that was set in 2003. — Bernama
