Coe to stand for BOA leadership
LONDON (Reuters) - London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games chairman Sebastian Coe will stand in the next election to lead the British Olympic Association (BOA), the BBC reported on Monday.
Current BOA head Colin Moynihan announced after the Olympic Games in August that he would stand down from his post later this year, with a vote for the new chairman likely in November.
Coe, twice Olympic 1,500 metres gold medallist, said he would be interested in the role on Monday following a parade through England's capital to laud the efforts of the British Olympians and Paralympians.
"I am happy for my name go to forward," Coe told reporters.
Coe was appointed by Prime Minister David Cameron as Olympic legacy ambassador following the closure of the July 27-August 12 Olympic Games and is a former Conservative MP.
