Exciting times ahead as Cub Prix race resumes
PETALING JAYA: Motorcycling fans can brace themselves for an exciting race when the Petronas AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship resumes after the long Hari Raya Aidilfitri break.
The seventh round of the championship will be held from Sept 22-23 at the Kompleks Sukan Kluang, which boasts the most technical layout in this season’s race calendar.
Safe Aim Mutual Sdn Bhd (SAM) promotions director Ron Hogg expects the Kluang-leg to be an exciting one.
“Round 7 will also be a tricky affair for teams’ mechanics as they’ll have to work hard to provide a fast machine which fits the layout and their riders’ characteristics,” said Hogg.
“It will definitely be interesting to see who can master the technical Kluang layout. We have seen five different winners take the CP130 chequered flag in the first six legs and, with four more rounds to go, there is no doubt that the title chase will only get tighter.”
The premiere CP130 class has seen five winners in the first six races – with Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman of Team Harian Metro Y-TEQ SCK Honda Racing holding a slight edge, having raked in 100 points from a win and three other podium finishes.
But all the top five are still in with a shout for the title, including Ahmad Fazrul Sham (82pts), Mohd Zaqhwan Zaidi (81), Ahmad Fuad Baharudin (72) and defending champion Norizman Ismail (61).
