Spain-based Hafizh shows his class in MSS race


PETALING JAYA: Race 1 winner Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah was given a good run for his money by Ahmad Fuad Baharuddin before earning his second win in Round 3 of the Malaysian Super Series (MSS) at the Sepang International Circuit yesterday.

After a dominant display to win the Supersports race on Saturday, Hafizh was given a tough race by Fuad and his younger brother Ahmad Nashrul who settled for third place yesterday.

Hafizh, who currently competes in the CEV Buckler Spanish Champion-ship, is back in Malaysia until November, took the chequered flag in 22:42.504, just 0.353 seconds ahead of Fuad who crossed the line in 22:42.857.

Ahmad Nashrul – a three-time MSS champion for the 135cc Production class came in third in 22:43.121.

Meanwhile, in the Superstock race yesterday, Ahmad Zamani Baharuddin was in a class of his own as he cruised to a second successive victory.

Zamani completed the 10-lap race in 25:9.030 ahead of second place Nizam Fairuz Hassan in 25:10.806. Nasaruddin Yusof took third in 26:51.866.
