Lin Dan finally says ‘I Do’ to Xinfang
By CHOW HOW BAN
BEIJING: Two-time Olympic badminton champion Lin Dan and Xie Xingfang finally held their wedding reception, two years after their marriage registration.
The dinner here on Sunday night was all the more special because the venue – the Beijing University of Technology Gymnasium – was where Lin Dan and Xingfang won their Beijing Games men’s singles gold medal and women’s singles silver in 2008.
The celebrity couple: Lin Dan and his wife Xie Xingfang. Fans, university students and media members gathered outside the gymnasium as early as 4pm to get a glimpse of the couple and the celebrities invited for the event.
Most of the guests were the couple’s relatives and friends as well as their national team-mates.
Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei and Indonesia’s Taufik Hidayat were also invited but could not make it because the dinner coincided with the Japan Open. In his marriage vows, Lin Dan held his wife’s hands and took a deep breath before yelling “I do” as the guests applauded.
