Soldiers a win away from bagging title
KUALA LUMPUR: Armed Forces are a win away from bagging the Division One title in the TNB-Malaysia Hockey League (MHL).
They top the standings with 11 points from five matches and will wrap up their fixtures against basement team Politeknik KPT at the Taman Daya Stadium in Johor Baru tomorrow.
Of the seven teams in Division One, only Politeknik have lost all their five matches.
A win will assure Forces of the title while any other result will see them having to wait for the outcome of the Thunderbolt versus Johor HA match.
This is because Thunderbolt, who are second with 10 points, can steal the league title if Forces falter.
Johor HA, who have nine points, are also in with a chance. But they need to beat Thunderbolt and hope for Forces to lose.
The top four teams will advance to the semi-finals and so far only Forces and Thunderbolt are asured of their places. Three teams – Bukit Jalil Sports School (BJSS), Johor HA and Uniten – are vying for the two remaining spots.
