Ryder Cup : What they say

Bubba Watson (USA) on honour of playing in the Ryder Cup

Well, it’s the United States flag. You know, the military, the military that wears our flag everywhere they go, they give us freedom to play golf, to play the Ryder Cup

Brandt Snedeker (USA)

n I’m very, very competitive. People don’t get that, because I’m polite; but I tee it up on Friday here, I’m trying to tee it up against anybody, I’m going to try to beat their brains in as bad as I can.

Ian Poulter (Europe)

n We are all good friends, both sides of the pond. But there’s something about Ryder Cup which kind of intrigues me how you can be great mates with somebody, but, boy, do you want to kill them in Ryder Cup

Nicolas Colsaerts (Europe) on US assistant coach Freddie Couples

n Freddie just always seemed to be a cool cat, and the way he walks and the way he played; I just always loved the laziness about him. Funny enough, I think I walk kind of the same way.

Paul Lawrie (Europe) memories of first Ryder Cup match paired with Colin Montgomerie in 1999 in the USA

n A few kind of things happened on the tee that were kind of quite funny. The referee told Colin Montgomerie that he was Scotch, and Monty said, “No, Scotch is a drink. It’s a drink, it’s a drink, it’s a drink

Lee Westwood (Europe) on highs and lows of his seven previous Ryder Cups

n The highlights are winning them, obviously. The lowlights are not winning them.

Davis Love (USA) on why Tiger Woods has such a poor Ryder Cup record

n Well I messed Tiger up a couple of times, so I’m part of his problem.

Tiger Woods (USA) on his first encounter with basketball legend Michael Jordan

n Well, the first time I had ever been around him, he had fed me some beverages and the next day (in a tournament) was a little bit more difficult than I would like it to be.
