Shahril wins downhill event in Dungun
PETALING JAYA: Nor Shahril Haizat Ahmad Nazali buried his Pahang Sukma disappointment by winning the downhill event in the National Mountain Bike Championships in Dungun yesterday.
Shahril of Selangor was the silver medallist in the Sukma in July behind Pahang’s Mohd Aim Mohd Fauzi.
But at the Palma Serdang trail in Dungun yesterday, Shahril turned the tables on Aim to descend the 1km trail in 2:11.014. Stanley Jalip Jr of Sabah finished second and Aim third.
Stanley and Aim had identical times of 2:14.387 but Stanley was awarded second place after the commissaries reviewed the race video.
Hot favourite Laura Avila Adrian of Sabah grabbed the women’s title in 4:15.626.
Kedah’s Siti Aminatul Jannah Abdul Rahman was second (4:54.648) and Azmanira Mohd of Terengganu third (5:42.421).
The cross-country event will be held today.
