Maybank Malaysian Open: Lee Chong Wei storms into the final
By KNG ZHENG GUAN
KUALA LUMPUR: World No.1 Lee Chong Wei stormed into the final of the Maybank Malaysian Open after beating Denmark's Jan O Jorgensen in the semi-finals at the Putra Stadium, Bukit Jalil on Saturday.
The 30-year-old, however, did not have the easiest of matches as a spirited Jorgensen seemed determined to spoil the party.
Chong Wei however packed too much quality and eventually won 21-13, 17-21, 21-12.
The Penangite is now just one win away from erasing Wong Peng Soon's record of eight Malaysian titles and he will be extra determined to get the better of Indonesia's Sony Dwi Kuncoro in a bid to win his ninth title.
Sony on the other hand played superbly to stun second seed Kenichi Tago of Japan 21-12, 19-21, 23-21 in the other semi-final.
