Kirilenko rings in new year with Ovechkin
AUSTRALIAN OPEN
MELBOURNE PARK, MELBOURNE (Jan 14-27)
A BEAMING Maria Kirilenko (pic) showed off her new engagement ring at the Australian Open yesterday after she got engaged to ice hockey star Alex Ovechkin.
The Russian, when asked about her impending nuptials after her third-round win over Yanina Wickmayer, was at first coy but she then reached into her tennis bag and pulled out the sparkler, to applause from the crowd.
However Kirilenko, 25, said she had not yet set a wedding date with NHL player Ovechkin, who is also Russian.
“Not yet - we’re still thinking about it,” said the blonde world No. 15. – AFP
