Yoke Yoe: It’s about time we made a comeback to CP130
PETALING JAYA: YY Pang Racing supremo Pang Yoke Yoe has big plans for the team in the Petronas AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championships following their return to the super competitive CP130 class this year.
In the past three seasons, the team have been focusing on the CP115 and Wira class following championships promoters, Safe Aim Mutual Sdn Bhd’s (SAM), move to re-brand and amend the regulations at the start of 2010, where one team will be allowed to compete in only two categories each season.
With a clear direction in mind, the team will be banking on youngsters Mohd Azhar Abdul Jalil and Mohd Adid Rosley in the CP130 while Wira graduates, Tengku Amirul Haffiruddin and Mohd Izzat Zaidi Salehan, will move up the ranks and join senior Zaidy Mohd Zaifaizal in the CP115 category.
The team will no longer compete in the Wira class.
“It is about time we made a comeback to the CP130. Our current line-up are made of young talented riders and they deserve to compete at the highest level especially Azhar and Adib who has shown a lot of maturity over the past few seasons,” said Yoke Yoe, who has acquired the services of former Yamaha technical expert, Ng Soon Kim to further boost their challenge in the CP130 class.
“Returning to the CP130 will be a challenge. We definitely have a lot of catching up to do but at the same time we feel confident because we have Soon Kim on board.
“His experience setting up Yamaha bikes is unparalleled and to have him working with the team is a huge advantage,” said Yoke Yoe.
The team will have a busy schedule this year as Azhar and Adib will be racing in certain Underbone races in Indonesia.
“We hope by doing so they can pick up valuable experience and track time and build confidence riding against the big boys,” he said.
The championships starts from Mar 9-10 in Johor.
