Golf: Chris Wood hangs on in Doha
DOHA: Chris Wood hung on to his hopes of winning his first European Tour title despite a poor start in the fourth round of the Qatar Masters on Saturday.
The 25-year-old Englishman, who led by a healthy three strokes after the third round, found himself in trouble early with a double bogey and a bogey over his first six holes, but birdies on the eighth and ninth helped him stay in joint first place with South African George Coetzee on 15 under.
Coetzee, who was five shots off the pace when play began, stroked an eagle on the 10th to take the outright lead before Wood caught up with him with a birdie on the ninth.
England's Steve Webster, Spanish Sergio Garcia and South African Brenden Grace were in joint second place two shots down on 13 under while Gary Lockerbie, Alexander Noren and Simon were joint third on 12 under.- AFP
