Kim Her glad to have a helping hand
PETALING JAYA: National doubles chief coach Tan Kim Her believes the acquisition of Indonesian coach Paulus Firman will improve the Badminton Association of Malaysia’s coaching structure.
Kim Her said Paulus, who arrived in Malaysia yesterday on a two-year contract, could be the impetus to revive national No. 1 Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong’s flagging fortunes.
“We have so many combinations right now, including junior pairs who are on probation. With just me and Chong Kien Ling, it has been a little hectic for us,” said Kim Her.
“Now with Paulus joining us, he will be a good help ... once he settles down.
“He will be taking charge of Kien Keat-Boon Heong, Hoon Thien How-Tan Wee Kiong and Mohd Lufti Zaim-Tan Wee Gieen. With his past experience, we hope all three pairs will benefit and learn something new from him.
“On the other hand, I will take charge of four to five pairs while Kien Ling will work with four combinations. This makes our work easier and each pair will at least have someone to guide them,” added Kim Her.
