The 34-year-old Yew Ming, the second seed, edged compatriot Abdul Hazli Zainuddin 6-4, 7-5 to set up a final showdown with American-born Austin Karosi of Singapore.
The 23-year-old Karosi proved too strong for third seed Syed Aqil Syed Naguib of Malaysia, winning 6-2, 6-0.
In the women’s singles, top seed S. Theiviya of Malaysia bounced back to beat national champion Aslina Chua 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 to advance to the final.
