Chee Kieong confident Fitri can fight for CP130 crown
PETALING JAYA: SCK Honda Racing team manager Soong Chee Kieong is confident that Mohd Fitri Ashraf Razali – the youngest rider in his rank – is ready to fight for the CP130 crown in the Petronas AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship.
The championship is set to flag off in March.
Chee Kieong feels that the 18-year old Fitri has established himself as one of the stronger riders in the CP130 field despite frequently being overshadowed by his more illustrious team-mates Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman, Norizman Ismail and Affendi Rosli during his debut season in the premier class last year.
“Fitri is a very talented rider who doesn’t fear going against more experienced riders. He has the makings of a champion. With the right tools and mindset, we are confident he can fight for the CP130 title this year,” said Chee Kieong.
Fitri clearly proved his mettle in his maiden year in the premier class.
He consistently made the SuperPole cut (top 10 riders only) and secured his maiden pole position in Malacca (Round 8). He also enjoyed three podium finishes in Banting (Round 4), Teluk Intan (Round 5) and Sepang (Round 9) to end the season seventh overall.
The collaboration between Fitri and reigning CP130 champion Azlan Shah also brought SCK Honda Racing their second straight CP130 Best Team title.
