MAF to disallow outsiders from standing for elections
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Athletic Federation (MAF) have amended their constitution to disallow outsiders from standing for elections.
MAF president Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad said in future only current office bearers in the state associations would be allowed to stand for elections.
“This is because the current office bearers in the states know what is happening and they will be better candidates than those who are not members. We will submit the amendment during our EGM (extraordinary general meeting) for approval soon,” said Zainal.
The elected members in the MAF are the president, deputy president and the four vice-presidents.
Zainal said they would also reinstate the allowance for national athletes competing in local and overseas competitions.
“For a local meet, an athlete will receive RM30 per day. As for an overseas assignment, they will get RM50 per day,” said Zainal.
