Speedster Hafizh confident of a top three finish on new bike
PETALING JAYA: Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah has set himself a target of a top three finish in his second season in the Spanish CEV Buckler Championship.
The 19-year-old set the target based on his team Petronas Raceline Malaysia’s decision to migrate from the FTR platform to Kalex.
Hafizh has had only one opportunity to ride on the new Kalex bike but he is expected to conduct a more extensive second test this week.
Still, the youngster is already excited about his prospects.
“My first impression of the new bike is that it offers improved handling and better performance,” said the rider from Selangor.
“The team are pulling out all the stops in our preparations for this year and, with the changes that the team are planning for the set-up, I believe we will be able to extract every last ounce of power out of the bike.”
Petronas Raceline Malaysia decided to change the bike after the team’s research identified the Kalex chassis as the one that would give Hafizh the best possible chance of hitting the target.
“We still have a lot of work ahead of us, but I’m confident we’ll be able to put up a good showing when the season opener comes along at the end of April,” said Hafizh.
