PETALING JAYA: The Sepang Inter­national Circuit (SIC) will be a hive of activity over the next three days as the MotoGP teams test their bikes in the official pre-season testing.

The three days of testing, starting today, for the premier class in the world motorcycling championship will give the first real indication of the teams’ form ahead of the first race in Qatar on April 5.

SIC chief executive officer Datuk Razlan Razali said motor-racing fans are invited to watch the testing sessions.

“It’s a brand new season with major changes in the top teams’ line-up. It promises to be another exciting season of world-class motorcycling action. The main grandstand will be opened for free and fans can also buy the tickets for the Malaysian Motor­cycle Grand Prix at early bird price,” he added.

Big names like Valentino Rossi, Marc Marquez, Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa are all in town to rev up their bikes.

After two disappointing seasons with Ducati, nine-time world champion Rossi is now back with Yamaha as he goes in search of his 10th world title.

He has defending world champion Lorenzo as his team-mate.

A former 125cc and 250cc champion, Pedrosa is in search of a first MotoGP world crown with Repsol Honda. He has Marquez, the 2011 Moto2 champion, as his team-mate.
