Suzuka Circuit to host Petronas Asia Road Racing Championships for the first time
PETALING JAYA: The world-famous Suzuka Circuit in Japan will host the Petronas Asia Road Racing Championships (ARRC) for the first time this season.
It will be the second Japanese circuit, besides Autopolis in Kyushu, to host the ARRC.
“We’re extremely delighted to have the Suzuka Circuit added to the ARRC schedule. It’s one of the best circuits in the world ... and extremely challenging for bike racing,” said Ron Hogg, the promotions director of Two Wheels Motor Racing Sdn Bhd, the ARRC promoters.
“It’ll be very interesting to see what the SuperSports 600cc, Underbone 115cc and Asia Dream Cup riders can do there.”
The championships will kick off at the Sepang International Circuit on April 18-21, followed by the Sentul Circuit in Indonesia (May 16-19) and the recently upgraded Madras Motor Race Track in India (July 11-14).
The championships will visit Suzuka from Aug 29- Sept 1 before proceeding to the Autopolis the following weekend (Sept 4-8).
Meanwhile, the Losail International Circuit in Qatar remains as host for the season finale on Nov 20-23.
“We are confident that the teams and riders will enjoy Suzuka. To make things more exciting, the back-to-back races in Suzuka and Autopolis will be a new experience for them,” said Ron.
