More than just a golf event at star-studded Malaysian Open

PETALING JAYA: The Maybank Malaysian Open 2013 is shaping up to be more than just an indulgence for golf enthusiasts as the tournament promises to be an event fit for the entire family with fun-packed activities on March 21-24.

As the scenic Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC) plays host to the likes of former world No. 1 Luke Donald, Masters champion Charl Schwartzel, Maybank Malaysian Open 2011 champion Matteo Manassero and three-time Major champion Padraig Harrington, spectators will be able to enjoy various engaging activities and promotions on offer at the venue.

Spectators can take photos with the official Maybank Malaysian Open trophy, lend their support to the Liver Transplant Centre at Hospital Selayang (supported by Maybank Foundation) or try their hands at interactive games such as the Transview Putting Challenge and V Darts Challenge and also win prizes at the Exhibition Village.

Besides that, one can also hop into the Public Hospitality booth to enjoy “live” coverage of the event in an air-conditioned venue or opt to enjoy ice-cold drinks at the Carlsberg Beer Garden or sumptuous meals at KLGCC’s Flame and China Treasures eatery.

If you’re feeling lucky, walk over to the East Course Activity Area for a chance to win a new car in the Hyundai Veloster Chipping Challenge. Besides that, Maybank Premium cardholders will also enjoy the exclusive members-only hospitality at the Maybank Premium Lounge.

But if you’re there for the golf, the Grandstand and Public Deck facing the 14th and 18th Green is where you should be as it gives a good view of the course and the chance to see your favourite golfers warming up and practising.

“The Maybank Malaysian Open is more than a sports event. Every year, it presents some of the top players in the game and provides other enjoyable aspects during the four-day event,” said John Eu, Chief Executive Officer of GlobalOne, the organisers of the Malaysian Open.

Meanwhile, GlobalOne have arranged for shuttle services to run from March 21 to 24 to the venue – the inner circle would be from Sime Darby Convention Centre and Juara Stadium Bukit Kiara and the outer circle will be from Publika at Solaris Dutamas and KL Hilton at Level P3 (opposite the KL Sentral entrance).
