Steel takes lead in PGM Clearwater Classic third round
PETALING JAYA: Iain Steel (pic) surged to the top of the PGM Clearwater Classic leaderboard after a bogey-free third round yesterday.
The 41-year-old shot a five-under 67 at the Clearwater Sanctuary Golf Resort in Perak for a 12-under 204 to take a one-stroke lead into today’s final round of the RM150,000 tournament.
Nicholas Fung, the overnight leader, and Anis Helmi were joint second on 11-under 205.
Nicholas, reigning PGM Tour Order of Merit champion, and Anis scored identical 69s.
First round leader R. Nachimuthu also shot a 69 that left him two off the lead and right in the mix for the crown on 10-under 206.
