Double joy for Yen Mei in Holland
KUALA LUMPUR: There was double joy for Ho Yen Mei when she reached the fourth round in both the women’s singles and mixed doubles in the Dutch Junior International in Haarlem yesterday.
Yen Mei defeated Kirsten van der Valk 21-17, 21-14 and will fight for a quarter-final berth against Anne Tran of France.
In the mixed doubles, she combined with Woon Mun Choon to down England’s Darren Adamson-Emily Jeffs 21-13, 21-19 to make the last 16. The duo will take on Ruben Jille-Alida Chen of France next.
In the men’s singles, top seed Soong Joo Ven lived dangerously before clawing back from 11-17 down in the second game to beat Citron Tanguy of France 21-18, 22-20. He is joined by Soo Teck Zhi in the last 16.
