Argentina and South Africa to play in Johor Baru
KUALA LUMPUR: South American giants Argentina and South Africa have been added to list of team for the World League semi-finals to be held in Johor Baru from June 29-July 7.
The two teams are qualifiers from Round Two of the World League held in Rio de Janeiro in February.
This brings the number of teams confirmed for the Johor Baru tournament to seven, the other five being hosts Malaysia, world No. 1 Germany, England, South Korea and Pakistan. This leaves just one more spot to be filled up after the Round Two event in Kazan, Russia, in June.
The semi-finals in Johor Baru will be the second in the series, with Holland hosting the first from June 13-23. Six of the eight teams for the Holland semi-finals are the hosts, Australia, Spain, New Zealand and Round Two qualifiers India and Ireland.
Two more teams will be selected later this month after another Round Two tournament in France, with Belgium and Canada tipped to make the cut.
The top four teams from each of the semi-finals will qualify for the 2014 World Cup Finals to be held in India next February.
