Inconsistent outing for Nabil in Belgium
PETALING JAYA: It was a mixed outing for Nabil Jeffri in the second leg of the German Formula 3 series at the Spa Francorchamps circuit in Belgium on Sunday.
The 19-year-old rookie finished seventh in the first and second races respectively but a miscalculated move put paid to his chances of bringing his car home in the final race.
Nabil took a gamble by going out on wet tyres but the weather held and, in his haste to make up for lost traffic, crashed with nine laps to go. Nabil, driving for Eurointernational and supported by Petronas in his move to European racing scene, was happy with how the weekend went for him despite the crash.
“It was a gamble but it’s okay. It was a good learning curve for me and, hopefully, I’ll be more prepared for Nurburgring (in Germany) this weekend,” said the 2012 JK Racing Asia series runner-up.
Nabil collected eight points from the weekend and is ninth in the overall standings with 12 points.
