About the Awards

The StarBiz-ICR Malaysia Corporate Responsibility Awards focus on assessing all the elements which make up how a company conducts its business.
The Awards provide a systematic approach to evaluating the performance of Malaysian companies, and takes into consideration issues of governance and ethics. They also adhere to the Triple Bottom Line approach, which expands the traditional reporting framework to take into account environmental and social performance as well as financial performance.

This initiative is the result of a partnership between The Star and Institute of Corporate Responsibility (ICR) Malaysia, together with its working partners, ACCA, PricewaterhouseCoopers and SIDC.

Objectives

The StarBiz-ICR Malaysia Corporate Responsibility Awards is introduced to recognise and honour companies that demonstrate outstanding Corporate Responsibility (CR) practices that go beyond community and philanthropic activities. The aim is to encourage responsible business practices with more focus on how business practices can be responsible in the ways businesses make their money compared to what they do with the money once they have made it.

With this CR Awards, the organisers wish to encourage Malaysian companies to assimilate CR values in their business strategies and goals so as to raise the business standards of companies for the benefit of all stakeholders.

  • To promote responsible business practices
  • To give a global competitive edge to Malaysian companies with best CR practices
  • To encourage Malaysian companies to embed CR values into their business strategies, raising business standards for the benefit of all stakeholders
  • To educate companies and the public to consider CR-related activities as an investment and a business strategy, and not as a liability
