Fantastic Faizal

They say that there’s a silver lining in every situation. Admittedly it is a cliché phrase but it is really the best way to describe the furore that surrounded One In A Million season one runner up Faizal Tahir. After being publicly vilified for taking off his shirt during a performance, Faizal is making his comeback in a big way, ending his three-month ban with six Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM) nominations, including Best New Artiste, Best Vocal Performance in an Album (Male).

Moving up

THE phrase third time's a charm is a way of describing Aaron Aziz's move to the local entertainment scene. Over the past year, the 32-year old actor, has becoming increasingly familiar here. He was recently seen on the series Sadiq & Co, he can currently be seen in the film Evolusi Kl Drift and will soon appear in the Saiful Apek film Shh... Dia Datang.

Awal of all trades

YOU may regard him as a young and budding talent but there's no denying that Awal Ashaari is well on his way to solidifying his position in the industry. It's hard to miss the 26-year old as he hosts a number of programmes on a couple of channels. Added to that of course is the distinctive blonde-streaks and spiky hair that are kind of hard to miss.

Vintage appeal

A pair of khaki pants may be regarded as a boring way to dress but that is about to change with the release of the limited edition Dockers K1 Vintage pants.

Fashion magic

CALVIN Klein's creative director Kevin Carrigan transformed the Tent@Orchard with his very own 'magical dust' for his show. Singapore Straits Times’ Urban talks to the hands-on perfectionist Carrigan who junked the platform catwalk and used white boxes for chairs to create an all-white urban setting to complement the clothes.

Brief encounter

HE hits the big 4-0 in August but there's something undeniably boyish about Swedish male supermodel Marcus Schenkenberg. He has a laid-back, casual air that is probably left over from his roller-skating, beach-bum days in California in the late 1980s before he was discovered for a modelling career.

Lean, mean Rovilson

From the get go the team of Rovilson Fernandez and Marc Nelson of the recently aired The Amazing Race Asia 2 were front-runners of the competition thanks to their more-than-fit physique. And they didn’t disappoint, coming in first for most of the race. They were the ones to beat, and they probably would have won if the final task from the show had been a physical challenge.

Instant gratification

Four men out of five, when asked if they cook, will say no but add almost immediately, “Except instant noodles.” (Well, they don’t actually say “instant noodles”; they mention the brand name that’s used to refer to any type of instant noodle. It has a red and yellow logo, since you ask.)

Rev it up

RECORD high oil prices, environmental concerns, affluent lifestyles as well as the need to dodge city traffic are driving a boom in Asia's motorcycle and bicycle market, industry figures say.

Stranger than fiction

The image is hard to ignore: a distracted dwarf wedged awkwardly between the legs of a Moulin Rouge dancer. The pose could be from a Belle Epoque painting, but the photograph is strangely difficult to pin down. The subjects are in 19th century dress but are obviously in front of a 20th century building.

Hair raising experiences

HAIR is referred to as your crowning glory for a reason. A good head of hair always makes you look longer, gives you the potential to be more fashionable and let's face it, can be used to distract from facial characteristics that aren't attractive. The thing is hair loss is becoming more of an issue for an increasing number of people and it is starting to become a problem at a younger age.

Close shave

TO ensure that you are able to get a comfortable and close shave, Gillette has released it's new look MACH3Turbo Triumph. The razor has three anti-friction blades and soft, protective microfins that help give a comfortable shave, even against the grain.
