JAKARTA, May 1 (Jakarta Post/ANN): The authorities have said that the peak in traffic of millions of homebound Indonesians departing to their hometowns to spend the Idul Fitri holiday with families and relatives, a tradition known as mudik (exodus), has now passed.

The government expected some 85 million people to perform mudik this year – the first time since the pandemic started that travellers have been allowed to do so – with some 23 million cars and 17 million motorcycles forecast to hit the road over the course of the holiday.
