China accuses West of manipulation after UN report on Uighurs


GENEVA, Sept 3 (dpa): China has accused the West of systematic manipulation and lies after the publication of what it called a "false and illegal" report by the UN Human Rights Office on evidence of crimes against humanity in China's Xinjiang region.

Chinese Foreign Office spokesperson Wang Wenbin said on Thursday that the Western states had pressured the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, to publish the report.
