Brunei is feeling the heat, very hot and dry weather awaits people this week

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, April 16 (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Based on climatological records, the average maximum temperature for Brunei is 32.7 degrees Celsius (C) for April, according to the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD).

The Brunei International Airport Meteorological Observation Station of the BDMD recorded maximum daily temperatures between 31 degrees Celsius to 33 degrees Celsius for the month.

The Sultanate is in the inter-monsoon period, where local wind effects play an important role in governing daily weather.

For the past few days, the country has been experiencing fair and hot weather during the day with isolated coastal showers occurring around midday. In the afternoon, isolated showers or thundershowers also occurred over inland areas and spread to few coastal and sea areas later at night.

Weather condition over Brunei is forecast to be active today until tomorrow due to the presence of the low pressure system near the region.

It will cause unstable and moist atmospheric conditions which are favourable for the development of rain clouds and can also bring about windy conditions which can be gusty at times, especially during the crossing of heavy showers over our country.

Showers, occasionally heavy and thundery, are expected to affect several areas of the country.

Wind gust may reach up to 40 kilometres per hour during or near heavy and thundery showers. Over Brunei waters, sea condition is generally at slight state, with wave height of 0.3 to 0.6 metres.

Members of the public are advised to take precautionary actions with respect to the forecast active weather condition.

There is also risk of flash floods especially at low-lying and flood prone areas as well as near river banks during continuous heavy rain and high tide.

Public, road users and fishermen are advised to always be up to date with the latest weather forecast, advisory and warning issued by BDMD, and to take action to ensure safety.

Latest weather information, advisories and warnings can be accessed through BDMD’s mobile app, Brunei WX.

Latest weather information can also be obtained by contacting the duty meteorological forecaster at BDMD Forecast Centre, through Weather Line 114, by visiting www.met.gov.bn or Facebook (@bruneiweather), Instagram (@brunei.weather) and Telegram Channel (Brunei Weather). - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
