BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Brunei remains largely unaffected by the massive tech outage on Friday (July 19) that disrupted various industries worldwide, including airlines, healthcare, public transportation, and financial institutions.

Authorities under the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC) through several public channels quickly assured the public that Brunei International Airport and government digital services are operating normally.

The Department of Civil Aviation confirmed in a statement Friday night that there were no major delays or disruptions at Brunei International Airport due to the global IT issues, adding that airlines and operators are working diligently to ensure minimal impact on passengers.

However, they reminded travellers of potential delays at other international airports.

The E-Government National Centre also addressed the situation through an Instagram post, clarifying that despite the ongoing global IT outage caused by a defective CrowdStrike update, no government digital services in Brunei have been affected.

“We are working closely with our stakeholders to monitor the situation,” the centre said in a statement. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
